Use of Might in Hindi (Might का प्रयोग)
Might का प्रयोग कम संभावना, विनम्र निवेदन, तथा कोरी कल्पना वाले वाक्यों में होता है। ऐसे वाक्यों के अंत में सकता है, सकती है, सकते हैं, सकता था, सकती थी, सका सकी सकी आदि शब्द आते हैं।
जैसे –
1. क्या मैं आपकी कलम ले सकता हूं?

Use of Might – Rules, and Examples
Might का प्रयोग may से कम संभावना को व्यक्त करने के लिए करते हैं। Might के प्रयोग से 25% संभावना को व्यक्त करते हैं। यदि अन्य शब्दों में कह सकते हैं कि Might या May का प्रयोग एक्शन के लिए करते हैं जिनकी होने या घटने की थोड़ी संभावना होती है।

Less Possibility
Might का प्रयोग कम संभावना को व्यक्त करने के लिए करते हैं जबकि may का प्रयोग might से अधिक संभावना को व्यक्त करने के लिए करते हैं।
Examples:
1. It might rain on Sunday.
रविवार को बारिश हो सकती है।
2. The king might open the box of jewellery.
राजा आभूषणों का डिब्बा खोल सकता है।
3. He might refuse my proposal.
वह मेरे प्रस्ताव को ठुकरा सकता है।
4. My parents may come today.
मेरे माता-पिता आज आ सकते हैं।
5. Your result may declare soon.
आपका परिणाम जल्द घोषित हो सकता है।
Past Tense of May
Might का प्रयोग may के Past Tense के रूप में होता है। यदि वाक्य के Principal Clause का Tense ‘Past Tense’ में तो may के स्थान पर Might का प्रयोग होता है।
Examples:
1. I thought I might meet him in the garden.
मुझे लगा कि मैं उससे बगीचे में मिल सकता हूं।
2. He might join this job if you offered him a good salary.
यदि आप उसे अच्छा वेतन देते हैं तो वह इस नौकरी में शामिल हो सकता है।
Might का प्रयोग Indirect Speech में
May के Past Tense के रूप में Indirect Speech (अप्रत्यक्ष कथन) में होता है।
Examples:
1. Raju said, “It may rain tonight”
Raju said that it might rain that night.
राजू ने कहा, “आज रात बारिश हो सकती है”
राजू ने कहा कि उस रात बारिश हो सकती है।
2. He said, “May you succeed in your life!”
He wished that I might succeed in my life.
उन्होंने कहा, “आप अपने जीवन में सफल हों!”
वह चाहते थे कि मैं अपने जीवन में सफल हो जाऊं।
3. Mother said to his son, “You may use my laptop.”
Mother told/allowed his son that he might use her computer.
माँ ने अपने बेटे से कहा, “तुम मेरे लैपटॉप का इस्तेमाल कर सकते हो।”
माँ ने अपने बेटे से कहा/अनुमति दी कि वह उसके कंप्यूटर का उपयोग कर सकता है।
Polite Request or Asking for Permission
Might का प्रयोग विनम्र निवेदन तथा अनुमति के भाव को व्यक्त करने के लिए करते हैं।
Examples:
1. Might I drink water here?
You might drink water here by me.
क्या मैं यहाँ पानी पी सकता हूँ?
आप यहां पानी पी सकते हैं
2. Might I ask a question, please?
Yes, you might.
क्या मैं एक प्रश्न पूछ सकता हूँ, कृपया?

Might in Passive Voice
Might का प्रयोग Passive Voice में होने पर इसके साथ भी जोड़ते हैं तथा तथा मुख्य क्रिया की तीसरी अवस्था (III) का प्रयोग करते हैं।
Examples:
1. You might buy this saree.
This saree might be bought by you.
आप इस साड़ी को खरीद सकते हैं।
यह साड़ी आपके द्वारा खरीदी जा सकती है।
2. They might open the shop.
The shop might be opened by you.
वे दुकान खोल सकते हैं।
दुकान ओआपके द्वारा खोली जा सकती है।

Suggestion
Might का यह express के लिए उपयोग किया जाता है कि कोई व्यक्ति वह नहीं कर रहा है जो उससे अपेक्षित/उम्मीद है।
Examples:
1. You might help me decorate the room.
आप कमरे को सजाने में मेरी मदद कर सकते हैं।
2. You might help the people earn some money.

Supposition
कोरी कल्पना वाले वाक्यों (Suppotional Sentences) में might का प्रयोग करते हैं ऐसे वाक्य I wish, We wish, you wish आदि से शुरू होते हैं।

Might as a Noun
Might का प्रयोग संज्ञा के रूप में होता है इसका अर्थ संज्ञा के रूप में बल शक्ति या पराक्रम होता है।
