Note: Countable Nouns को दो Numbers रखा गया है; Singular Number तथा Plural Number.

Singular Number (एकवचन): जिन संज्ञा से किसी एक का बोध हो, उन्हें एकवचन संज्ञा Singular Number कहते हैं। जैसे; boy, girl, man, parrot, house, school, teacher, app, student etc.

Plural Number (बहुवचन): जिन संज्ञा से किसी एक से अधिक का बोध हो, उन्हें बहुवचन संज्ञा Plural Number कहते हैं। जैसे; boys, girls, men, parrots, houses, schools, teachers, mangoes, students etc.

Gender of Common Nouns

Gender को Hindi में लिंग कहते हैं। Common nouns के genders चार प्रकार के होते हैं;

1. Masculine Gender (पुल्लिंग): पुरुष जाति का बोध कराने वाले शब्दों को masculine gender कहते हैं। जैसे; man, king, horse, father, brother, lion, sir, actor etc.

2. Feminine Gender (स्त्रीलिंग): स्त्री जाति का बोध कराने वाले शब्दों को feminine gender कहते हैं। जैसे; woman, queen, mare, mother, sister, lioness, madam, actress etc.

3. Common Gender (उभय लिंग): वे संज्ञा शब्द जिनसे पुरुष या स्त्री जाति का स्पष्ट बोध न कराने वाले शब्दों को common gender कहते हैं। जैसे; Student, Teacher, Driver, Doctor, Professor etc

4. Neuter Gender (नपुंसक लिंग): जो nouns निर्जीव वस्तुओं या प्राणियों का बोध कराते हैं, उन्हें Neuter Gender कहते हैं। जैसे; House, fruit, tree, table, book, room, truth etc.

Remember: Collective, material तथा abstract nouns को neuter gender माना जाता है।
