Material Noun को हिंदी में पदार्थ वाचक संज्ञा या द्रव्यवाचक संज्ञा कहते हैं। इसके अंतर्गत वे वस्तुएं आती हैं जिनसे हम दूसरी वस्तुएं बना सकते हैं। किसी भी Material Noun को छु व देख सकते हैं। जैसे; दूध, पानी, सोना, चांदी, कागज, लकड़ी, तांबा, गेहूं, चावल, आटा आदि।
Material Noun संज्ञा का एक भाग है। संज्ञा का अध्ययन करते समय पदार्थ वाचक संज्ञा का अध्ययन भी करना पड़ता है।

Definition of Material Noun in Hindi
Definition of Material Noun in Hindi: जिन noun से किसी ऐसे पदार्थ का बोध हो जिससे दूसरी वस्तुएं बन सकें, वह material noun कहलाता है। Material Noun को हिंदी में पदार्थ वाचक संज्ञा कहते हैं। जैसे: Gold, silver, water, rice, wheat, wood, milk, iron, alluminium, copper etc.
Definition of Material Noun in English: A noun which refers to a substance from which other things can be made, is called a material noun.
Examples:
- My ring is made of gold. (अंगूठी सोने की बनी है।)
- She bought a plate of rice. (उसने चावल की एक प्लेट खरीदी।)
- Mr. Sharma needed some wood to make a chair. (मि. शर्मा को कुर्सी बनाने के लिए कुछ लकड़ी की जरूरत थी।)
- I want to drink water. (मैं पानी पीना चाहता हूं।)
- My father got his furniture made of neem wood. (मेरे पिता ने अपना फर्नीचर नीम की लकड़ी से बनवाया था।)
- We bought a tea set of silver.(हमने चांदी का एक चाय का सेट खरीदा।)
Always Remember: Material Nouns, को गिना नहीं जाता है। अतः यह countable नहीं होते हैं। इन्हें केवल मापते हैं या तौल सकते हैं। पदार्थ वाचक संज्ञा के साथ हमेशा क्रिया की पहली अवस्था (First form of the verb) का प्रयोग किया जाता है।

Material Noun Examples in Hindi
- मैं प्यासा हूँ। मुझे कुछ पानी की जरूरत है।
(I am thirsty. I need some water.) - किसान अपने खेतों में गेहूं की खेती करते हैं। गेहूं का उपयोग रोटी और आटा बनाने के लिए किया जाता है। (The farmers grow wheat in their fields. Wheat is used to make bread and flour.
- सर्दियों के लिए ऊनी कपड़े बनाने के लिए ऊन का उपयोग किया जाता है। (Wool is used to make woolen clothes for winter.)
- बढ़ई लकड़ी से कुर्सी बना रहा है। (The carpenter is making a chair using wood.)
